Shepperton Armor.

Indlæg af Brianjc118 »

Hello everyone my name is Brian Campbell.
I have lived in Denmark now for almost two years. I have always been a very giving and loving person.

I would love to one day join the legion to help promote the joy and happiness that you spread to others. I am in the process of buying a Shepperton designs kit directly.

I am a hardware and software specialist and martial arts instructor.

So I plan on customizing the kit all out. Is the Shepperton design kit legion accepted? I have searched forums on my own before asking to no avail.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, thank for you're time. _ Brian.

Hi and welcome to the boards.

Shepperton is accepted, but require some work.
Also bear in mind that Shepperton is generally frowned upon. Not because of the quality of the armor, but because of the man behind it.
He claims to be the original designer of the Stormtrooper, which is a big fat lie.
Brian Muir designed the armor (as well as Vader) and the helmet is was designed by Liz Moore, who also designed the helmet for C3PO.

Andrew did work at the studio where they assembeled the armour, but thats it.

I would strongly recommend going to whitearmor.net as they have a long list of recommended armor makers all around the world. Including RS Propmasters and Troopermaster. Both located in the UK as well ;)

If you decide to stick with the Shepperton armor, it wont hinder your acceptance as long as you assemble the armor well (Bear in mind it can require a few modifications to be accepted)

Hope this helps a bit :)
And dont hesitate to ask again if you need anything. Were here to help. No matter the type of armor ;)

Thank you for the reply. I was reading a old post just an hour ago from 2007 about Shepperton armor and what you just stated.. I was a bit surprised.

I have done a lot if research as the different types of armor, plastics, electronics ect. Also youtube videos help a ton to show proper tint and color quality.

RS armor I was also considering however it is twice the price tag. I can modify and change out parts from the Shepperton design kit as much as needed as I am going to custom my own electronics into the build. This will take several months as I wont rush anything.

I am really thankful and looking forward to giving back to the Danish community and one day trooping to make a positive impact in others lives.

Almost forgot.

RWA creations also make TK armor. Also from the UK.

I have no personal experience with his kits, but general feedback is very good.

You can find him here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1865574590327448/

Just took another look at Shepperton/Originalstormtrooper(its been a while since i cared to pay any atention to him ;) )
The armor is assembeled in an overlap method instead of a but joint+coverstrip method wich was the original way of assembling armor and the only way all the vetted vendors makes them.
His belt is plastic all the way, instead of canvas.
Chest plate is very "flat" and may not be accepted for 501st approval.

Again. I cant reccomend Shepperton.

Just checked the CRL: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Cost ... _anh_stunt

Sheppertons armor should get you approved with all its flaws, if assembeled and fitted right.

But from what I hear you saying, you want to make this armor great and Sheppertons armor will never pass level 2(expert infantry) or 3 (Centurion) approval.

The cheap solution often costs more than the more expensive solution. And create more grief and trouble than good is.
I would defently go for a rwa suit if I should go for a new tk suit.

Well you guys are seasoned veterans and I am mearly a green horn. I will look into the others as far as a kit goes. I reallt want it to work out and look and feel fantastic. Its very important to me that its acceptable because I strive to put out my best in all that I do.

Again thank you

Well. If you ask me, Troopermaster is the top of the pops ;)

Then comes RS Propmasters, which is casted using an original suit. Only thing for me, that pulls RS down, is the helmet. The original Helmets was cast in a different type of plastic that was off-white to yellow-ish in colour and had to be painted white with a brush. Those brush strokes and paint "blobs" are therefore visible on their helmet.

But yeah, as Lars said, I would probably try out RWA if I need a new TK at some point. Its fairly cheap and the community feedback is good ;)
Also, he is a 501st member himself, so he knows what details people are looking for ;)
